I was born and
raised in rural northwest Arkansas and currently
live on a small farm in Springfield, Missouri, where
I also practice law. Even though I grew-up on a
farm, I did not start riding horses until I was in
my mid-forties. At that time, I started trail riding
with my friends and when they would lope their
horses, I would get off mine and walk until my
friends returned. I finally decided I was going to
learn to lope and attended a Craig Cameron
Horsemanship Clinic where I started building my
riding confidence, meet Jennie Wentworth and learned
about a wonderful sport called Extreme Cowboy
Racing. After a lot of help from Jennie, and after
watching her compete at World, I was hooked on EXCA
and ready to compete myself. As they say, the rest
is history. I have been competing at EXCA World
every year since, starting with my sweet mule
Sandy. This great sport has forced me to develop
into a much more confident horseman and competitor
and I no longer want to get off my horse and walk
when my friends lope off; instead, I am right there
with them. Because this wonderful sport helped me so
much, I want to do everything I can to spread the
word and involve horse folks that want to improve,
no matter what their riding level. Thank you, Craig
and Dalene Cameron, for inventing and promoting such
a wonderful sport that develops confident horses and
riders!
